Marsha Jo Torreano

Marsha died peacefully last night February 16, 2022.  I will post more details as I receive them. Received the following from her daugter and son.

Marsha J. Silberman (née Torreano) age 77, (spirit in Colorado Springs), passed away February 16, 2022 in Lexington, KY. She was born on March 28, 1944, in Edmonton-Alberta Canada to Augustus & Ina Hope Torreano. She was mother to Teresa J. Silberman (Stuart Everage), Thomas A. Silberman (Andrya Skubal) and Rhonda Nelson.  Nonna Jo to Addison, Jayvn, Mysteri, Reveri, Aemeri & Gus.

Marsha graduated from Woodward High School in 1962, attended Ohio University for two years, and participated in an international exchange program in Landau, Germany in 1967. She worked at The Cincinnati Zoo, also after high school. She was later employed at television stations 9 and 19 in the late 60s and married Thomas Silberman of Miamisburg in 1970. Post divorce, Marsha continued to reside & raise her kids in Pleasant Ridge. She worked for a variety of Cincinnati namesakes, such as Elder-Beerman Dept store, Coca-Cola to name a couple. Marsha also served as executive administrative assistant to three mayors of Cincinnati in the 1980s, David Mann, Thomas Brush, and Arnold Bortz, and then worked in advertising for the Caruso Ceresi Produce Company and Jungle Jim's Int'l Market.

Marsha was a regular on the local arts scene, working for and/or volunteering for many events and venues, such as Summerfair, Footlighters theater group, Playhouse in the Park, as well as performing in various community theater groups, most notably with the Nativity players in Pleasant Ridge. Marsha moved to Colorado Springs in 1997, and remained there for 18 years until moving back to be closer to her daughter in Lexington, KY.

Marsha loved life, and loved people, and friends, and was always finding something 'to do.'  She also was known to like a good bargain, and was the perfect companion to sip a beer & enjoy tasty food with, whether at Southgate House, Arnolds, the Blind Lemon, Rookwood Pottery, or in Germany.  She will be missed dearly ♥️

Logistics for a memorial are still being planned, mainly due to geographical oddities at play, but we will likely select a date where something can be done in her memory if one so wishes.

Marsha and I became friends in junior high school at the brand-new Shroder.  She lived in a lovely Victorian house on Kennedy Avenue with her parents and two younger brothers.  I remember a slumber party at her house where of course, there wasn't much slumber and then Judy Gleser got a huge splinter in her foot resulting in several of us accompanying her on a hurried trip to a hospital emergency room..  Marsha was a free spirit, happy and outgoing, with a beautiful smile.

Marsha was as sweet and kind as a child as she was as an adult. I am so happy that I was able to spend some time with her at the last reunion. My condolences to all of her relatives and friends.

I am so saddened to hear about the passing of my good friend and one time date. All of our time at Shroder and Woodward as well as hanging around the neighborhood, she was always such a joy to be around. Great smile with a persoanlity to match. After all she has been through with her health, a well deserved rest in peace.  Gil

I am so saddened to have lost Marsha.  She has been my best friend for 58 years since we became roommates at age 20.  She was in my first wedding, and I was in hers.  She came to visit me every summer for two to three weeks until the past two COVID summers.  I went to see her in Lexington last August because she was too ill to come to visit me.  I have such wonderful memories of our times together. My deepest condolences to Teresa, Tommy, and their families.

Although I know what a wonderful person Marsha was, I did not know her family. What I did know was how close Marsha and Sue Walters were and always will be. Sue, you were the first person I though of when I heard the sad news. So, to you, my condolences, because it is so difficult to lose a best friend. She was more than your friend, she was more like your sister. You, Sue, and Marsha had a close relationship that few people are lucky enough to have. The wonderful memories you have of all the times you spent together is a blessing. I am so sorry for your loss.
